Trained by another organisation?
No problem - contrary to what some SCUBA training organisations would lead you to believe. You can join BSAC affiliated clubs if you have been trained by other SCUBA training organisations. Some the current committee members started their diving by being trained by other organisations and crossed over. Please no Star Wars jokes!
The process is straightforward. All we do is look at what your equivalent qualification is within the BSAC system and cross you over. Often all that is required is that we give you a quick orientation on any hand signal differences and on how to use the BSAC 88 Decompression tables and that's it. Simple & straight forward. Because of the variation allowed in training leading to higher diving qualifications awarded by US diver training agencies, BSAC is unable to accept them as being of a similar standard to BSAC Advanced Diver. |
*NB some qualifications such as PADI open water may require further crossover training prior to acceptance to the equivalent BSAC grade.
